I have worn just a t-shirt in the shower and bath many times, but never had the courage to do it outside in public. I've done it couple of times at the beach with a long t-shirt (I had the ones labeled as tall) with just boxers or boxer briefs (dark colors and heavier fabric) and people assume it's a swimsuit. Back in the 70's when bib overalls were popular I would sometimes swim in them commando with a long t-shirt, and that felt really awesome.
