I wish I had a positive comment to make, but finding people to share in what you are doing is not easy. Like I said, on many of my walks I’ve had a camera with me and unless there is a safe space to leave that (where it won’t get stolen¹), no getting soaked for me! No doubt the same story for many with phones.

In now 160 walks (in a roughly 7-mile radius of countryside and numerous towns and villages), not a single circumstance has arisen where I’ve made a single friend.

Then again, finding someone to share *any* interest can be virtually impossible, if (like me) you approach every subject from angles that differ from the norm.


¹ in the past, not the biggest deal in the world (notwithstanding losing the SD card contents) but it seems that the world’s final truly pocketable digital camera, the Ixus, has been discontinued, just as I was about to finally buy it :(
