Getting wet in public seems to get more awkward the older you get, too. I have always had the fusspots who want to offer unwanted help, but it happens more often than not these days. I think that wetlook overall is something that differs from the norm. Wetlook in some forms, such as wet t-shirt contests, have wider appeal, but most people have no interest in doing it themselves and no "wow" spark sets off in people who see you do it, with rare exceptions, but they prefer to just watch you and rarely engage.

I did enjoy Songkran in Bangla Road in Phuket in 2019 though, because everybody wants to wet you when they see you dressed up, and when you dip in the sea, nobody bothers you.
