favorite clothes?

What is everyone's opinion on getting your favorite white shirt muddy? I have a really nice white sweater vest... it's one of my favorites and they don't sell it anymore so if I ruin it, that's it. I enjoy swimming in it and wearing it out. But I struggling with my need to want to get it muddy. Is it worth ruining it forever just for a one time enjoyment when I also like it clean for swimming and showering? I fear that I may regret ruining my beautiful white sweatervest forever... this dilemma is so painful. Anyone else deal with this? Has anyone else ruined something special of theres and regretted it after? Please Help!
