You can get your vest muddy without ruining it, it just may not be pristine white afterwards. If you continue to swim and shower in it after you got muddy, it will get clean up to a point, but it will still be intact and wearable. But you can also consider going to a thrift store and trying to find something similar that's cheap and you won't mind dirtying.
