No wellies, just the normal chunky work-boots we always wear around the farm. Will didn't mind being the first to get a soaking. The advantage with wearing old clothes handed down from his brothers is that he never gets moaned at for getting them wet, muddy or ripped. The only things he has that aren't pre-worn are his footwear, underwear, school uniform and his smart "Sunday best" clothes. He's used to being the youngest cousin and being pushed into doing things by his brothers and the rest of us.
I'll be sorely tempted to jump in the pit in my school uniform after I've left, just to see what it feels like going from clean and smart to completely messed up in one quick jump.
