I went to a professional conference in Seattle recently. Because a man whom I had hired to drive me to the airport failed to show up. Finally, I called a good friend who also does this to take me. However, we were unable to meet my flight times. Therefore, I was on "standby" for four flights before I was on a flight to Chicago.
In Chicago, again on "standby," I finally was put on a flight to Seattle very late in the day and long after I was originally intended to arrive.
Consequently, when I got to the hotel, I found my room and emptied my pockets and took off my shoes and headed to the pool still in my traveling clothes, to smooth out the stressful day.
This is a photo of me getting out of the hot tub, taken by kind fellow. Sitting in the hot tub, clothed, the stresses of the day slowly dissolved. The others in the hot tub asked why my clothes and I told them all the details. I even took a few laps in the pool.
Finally, relaxed, I sloshed my way back to my room. Of course, I had to return via empty meeting rooms, and left small puddles in the elevators that I had to use.
Getting back into my room, I turned on the shower and got in to rinse out the chlorine and proceeded to find ways to hang up my clothes on the AC outlet, to dry. I found some clean white briefs and jumped into the bed and fell fast asleep.
The next day, I had meetings, and, with the three hour time difference still unresolved by my body, I headed for the pool late in the evening, still in my next set of clothes, minus pocket contents and shoes. The same guys were there and new set of photos were taken. This time I wore navy dress pants and a gold golf shirt. I think the others in the hot tub were amused by my clothed swim. More photos taken by same guy. I even had a chance to do some laps.
Finally, I sloshed back to my room, showered to rinse out the chlorine and hung up everything. It took a whole day for the first set of clothes to dry. Found more white briefs and headed to bed.
Moral of the story: don't miss your flights, or get soaked in hotel pools, even if you have to stretch the truth a little.
