To be fair Zonie, you do make a lot of assumptions here. How do you know the father is not in the picture? That was never stated. Maybe he has joint or partial custody? One woman does identify as "stepmom" after all. Or maybe there are uncles or grandfathers in the picture? As they say, "it takes a village." If you truly believe it is required that a paternal and maternal figure live in the home full-time for a child to live fully, you must exist in a constant state of disappointment with this world of divorce, single parents, and alt-lifestyles. If so, I don't envy you.

And yes, evolution/biology teaches that males and females must work together to propagate the species, but mankind is not exactly an endangered species. I think we'll be okay if a small percentage of us don't propagate. We're much more likely to kill off our species in other ways.
